CoMin to consider energy help

Social Security Minister Steve Rodan is promising those on benefits that there are structures in place to help with rising energy prices.

His comments come in the wake of the Manx Electricity Authority announcement that power costs will go up another 14?%.

Mr Rodan says a low income working party will consider the increase, as will the Council of Ministers.

He says these mechanisms – along with higher winter fuel payments to pensioners – should mean people can still afford to heat their homes:
