Asylum - a test case

A Human Rights Lawyer says the island's first asylum case is being treated as a 'test' by United Kingdom Authorities.

Paul Beckett is representing a 39 year Bangladeshi man who escaped his country, where he fears he's being hunted by its elite anti-crime force, because he used to work in politics.

The man, who's being held in the U.K. is due receive confirmation his application to stay in Britain has been turned down, after which Mr Beckett has 5 days to appeal.

Mr Beckett says the case is being used to test the island's asylum relations, as we currently don't have any legislation:
