Government goes energy efficient

by isleofman.com 7th August 2006
The government is going green in an effort to reduce energy consumption, save money and set a good example to others.

The Council of Ministers’ energy committee, chaired by Environment Minister John Rimington, is to lead a campaign to cut carbon emissions and costs.

In 2004 the total energy bill for the government was just under ?9 million – though that’s likely to have increased significantly.

The moves being proposed could save the taxpayer up to ?1.7 million a year.
