Appeal papers will be lodged this morning (Tuesday) after the Island's first ever asylum seeker had his application to live in Britain turned down.
39 year-old Bangladeshi chef Mohammad Ahmed yesterday received written confirmation.
The asylum seeker, who is currently at a detention centre in Doncaster, fears his life would be in danger if he returned to his native country.
He moved to the Island a year ago and was initially detained in the Island’s prison after the authorities discovered him.
Isle of Man based human rights lawyer Paul Beckett (pictured) has confirmed he is lodging an appeal against the ruling, which he described as a formality.
At present the Island has no specific asylum seeker legislation and the case is seen as important in establishing procedures between the Manx and UK authorities in such circumstances.
