Lollipop man update due this week

by isleofman.com 8th August 2006
The full Whitley Council has met to review the row over the suspension of a lollipop man at an Island school.

Michael Hunt was taken to task by the authorities for helping children cross the road near Marown school - away from his designated crossing point on the A1 Peel Road.

Mr Hunt argued the greater need for a lollipop man was around the corner in Glen Darragh Road.

He was since surprised when work was begun to construct a pedestrian crossing at that very spot.

News of the review and subsequent recommendation is expected later this week.
