Former Tynwald Clerk dies

A former Clerk of Tynwald and Secretary of the Keys has died.

Frank Johnson MBE was 93.

He took on the (then) part time role in 1938, and held it until his retirement in 1964. Born in 1909, he was educated at King Williams College and Pembroke College Oxford. He came to the Manx Bar in 1937 and was a practising advocate until 1973. He was chair of Onchan Commisioners in 1946.

During the war he served in the Royal Artillery and ended the war with the rank of major.
