Energy task force

A Government Task Force has been set up to address the issue of spiralling energy costs in the Isle of Man.

A fortnight after the Manx Electricity Authority announced a 14.5 per cent rise from next month, and with Manx Gas due to announce its own price hike later this week, the group will look at ways of minimising the impact of such rises.

The group will be chaired by DTI Minister Alex Downie (pictured) and will include officers from government departments and the MEA.

Chief Minister Donald Gelling says it's a global problem, but he's hoping for a local solution:
