Business as usual.
That’s the emphatic message from Manx football’s dominant force, Laxey, as they retained the Eric Fletcher Charity Shield against arch rivals St George’s at the Bowl on Saturday.
The Miners, who last season joined an illustrious hall of fame by becoming only the fourth club in the history of the Manx game to win the Grand Slam, ran out 3-1 winners in the traditional curtain-raiser to the new season.
Although St Georges’ Island international Callum Morrisey equalised Neil Brogan’s opener, the Miners clinched yet more silverware with Carl Barks restoring their lead after the break before an expert 30 yard lob from makeshift centre forward Oliver Theobold sealed the success.
