Sunday's Close Private Bank Marathon in Ramsey was won by Spaniard Ricard Verge Berrar.

The 27 year old from Barcelona completed the distance in two hours, 41 minutes and 57 seconds.

Second was South African Stirling Slingerland from the Serpentine RC almost five minutes behind.

Murray Lambden from Manx Harriers was third, crossing the line in two hours, 56 minutes and 38 seconds.

Janet Hutton from Totley AC in Sheffield won the ladies race, coming home 11th overall in three hours, 27 minutes and 55 seconds.

Manx Harriers' Wendy Ross was second around 12 minutes later, and Janet Staats from Delaware in the USA was third around ten minutes after that.

Paul Clarke won the Open Half Marathon, in the event organised by the Isle of Man Veteran Athletics Club.

He finished in one hour, 15 minutes and 36 seconds, 34 seconds ahead of Manx Harriers team mate Kevin Loundes. Barry Norman of Wesham RR in Preston was third, almost two minutes behind Kevin.

Paul says it was a tricky race:

Gail Griffiths won the ladies Half Marathon, 27th overall in a time of one hour, 33 minutes and 34 seconds.

Samantha Cowen was second over three minutes down on Gail, and Mickey Swindale crossed the line in third almost 30 seconds later.

Gail was just a few seconds outside the Island Games development time:
