Dramatic Mersey rescue

by isleofman.com 15th August 2006
Horrified Steam Packet passengers witnessed a dramatic rescue in the River Mersey yesterday.

A woman in her forties was seen jumping into the water near the Isle of Man ferry terminal at around 9am and she was quickly swept away by the tide.

A Marine Fire Rescue boat from Birkenhead rushed to the scene and rescue workers found the woman clinging to a timber stanchion in the water 50 yards from where she went in.

The woman was treated for shock by paramedics.
