Updating laws good news for growing gay community, says journalist

A UK journalist says he's surprised the Isle of Man is lagging behind in the adoption of laws, which extend equal rights to homosexuals.

Dave McElhill who writes for gay website pinknews.co.uk, researched and wrote an article based on the Sexual Offences Amendment Act, which comes into force on September 1.

The bill includes the scrapping of Section 38, and the lowering of the homosexual age of consent to 16.

Mr McElhill says he gets the impression our society is fairly conservative (audio file attached):
