Records broken at Dundrod

by isleofman.com 17th August 2006
The Mountain Course is no longer the fastest road race circuit in the world.

This afternoon (THursday) at the Dundrod National Road Races, both Guy Martin and Ian Hutchinson officially set new lap records at over 130 miles per hour.

On his way to victory in the 150 Superbike Race, Martin recorded a lap time of 130.446mph, before Ian Hutchinson went even quicker with a new lap record of 130.535mph.

Raymond Porter and Ian Lougher also lapped at over 130mph.

HM Plant Honda rider John McGuinness, whose lap of 129.45mph during this year’s TT was the previous record, had unofficially broken the 130 barrier on the Dundrod Course during this morning’s practice for Saturday's Ulster Grand Prix.

There was also local success this afternoon with Conor Cummins’ superb year continuing with victory in the Dundrod 150 National Race over five laps.
