Robbery arrest

A man has been arrested and released on bail in connection with an armed robbery at a Chinese restaurant in Douglas on Tuesday night.

A robber, whose face was disguised by a balaclava, entered the Magic Wok Cantonese takeaway on Waverley Terrace just before 9pm.

The takeaway cashier was forced to hand over cash from the till at gunpoint.

Police say inquiries into the matter are continuing and anyone with information, or who was in the Waverley Terrace, York Road or Stanley Terrace area at the time, is being urged to come forward by contacting police on 631212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
