What started out as a labour of love will finally become a reality this afternoon (Sunday).
Three years of tireless dedication will be complete with the official opening and first turning of the original restored Snaefell Mine waterwheel at two o’clock in Laxey Valley Gardens.
Over fifty foot in diameter and taking five litres of water a second to turn, the project has also benefited from more than 120 sponsors and supporters.
The opening forms the centrepiece of a fun day which starts at 11 o’clock and will conclude tonight with a spectacular light and laser show.
It will also feature the first performance of a piece of music, by Onchan Silver Band, written specifically for the occasion.
