The Department of Social Services is appealing for more people to consider fostering in the Isle of Man.
Interim Director, Peter Smallridge, says only 20 per cent of children are fostered in the Island, compared to 80 per cent in the United Kingdom.
It comes as government ends it contract for residential care with Manx Family Services, following the findings of the Bordesley Institute.
Those services will be taken over by St Christopher's Fellowship, and it's hoped for the 18 children currently in care, the transfer will be as smooth as possible.
