Douglas Promenade will be no place weaklings next Sunday (27th)

The competition to find Britain's Strongest Man will take place on walkway opposite the Villa Marina.

It's the first time the Island has hosted the prestigious event which sees the ten finalists taking on a variety of Herculean tasks including pulling trucks and lifting vans.

The event will be screened over four hours on Sky Television this Christmas.

The main Isle of Man event organiser Morris Hazell says he became involved in organising it almost by accident: (first audio clip)

Tourism Minister David Cretney says he hopes the event will provide some excellent publicity for the Island: (second audio clip)
