Childcare report will not be made public

Home Affairs Minister John Shimmin says the government is moving towards more openness and transparency – despite not publishing the report into childcare agency Manx Family Services.

The company’s contract with the government was withdrawn last week, but Health Minister Steve Rodan says he is not going to follow the childcare inquiry recommendation to publish the report in full.

Mr Shimmin (pictured) says there are reasons the report might not be published – for example to protect the identities of MFS employees who might have made comments in the report.

But he says he still believes the government is becoming more open:
