Ramsey commissioner 'disappointed'

A Ramsey commissioner says he’s disappointed a town MHK claimed he voted against proposals for a marina in the town because the local authority told him to.

In 2001, Allan Bell made a U-turn over his initial support for the scheme, raising concerns over its potential economic viability in the face of a similar scheme in Douglas.

Now as proposals are in the process of being resurrected, Richard Radcliffe says it’s unnecessary Mr Bell has raised the issue of what happened five years ago.

And he believes the suggestion commissioners have such a level of influence is untrue – particularly as the local authority was in favour of such a scheme:
