Stealth speed limits

The organisation opposing a national speed limit in the Isle of Man is questioning the Department of Transport’s claim that people want more speed limits.

Director of Highways Bruce Hannay says the questionnaire sent out about the national speed limit shows people were in support of more limits around the Island.

But Frank Schungel of Safer Island Driving says in fact the document didn’t ask that question.

He says he’s concerned the DoT – despite its denials – is trying to introduce a national limit through the back door:
