Isle of Man teachers and support staff are taking part in specialised classes, which aim to raise awareness of the issues surrounding self-harm.
They are being run by the Mental Health Promotion team.
Yesterday it was revealed one in ten girls and four per cent of boys self-harm, ranging from cutting, head-banging, hair-pulling, eating disorders and drugs and alcohol.
Professionals say it is a way for people to release feelings without articulating them.
