Pronunciation guide to Manx

A new book could help people pronounce the Isle of Man's more tricky place names.

A Dictionary of Manx Place-names by George Broderick (pictured) combines information on the history which gave rise to them, and a pronunciation guide provided mainly by the farming community.

The book also includes parish maps and pictures of signs and churches.

Mr Broderick says its inevitable place names will change:
