Pub profits slump after smoking ban

Research in Scotland released shows pubs there have suffered a dramatic drop in trade since the smoking ban was introduced.

The Licensed Trade Association there reports an 11% drop in drink sales since lighting up was outlawed.

Jason Roberts spoke to the Isle of Man’s Licensed Victualler’s Association spokesman Geoff Joughin, who said the results aren’t particularly surprising.

He is worried the government’s plans to introduce a similar ban here could mean much the same thing for the Island’s landlords:
