Smoking views

A recent survey showing a smoking ban has damaged pub trade in Scotland has led to calls for our government to re-think its plans.

The Tobacco Bill would ban smoking in public places from 2008.

Research from Scotland suggests trade there has gone down by 11 per cent.

Geoff Joughin from the Licensed Victualler's Association says the government should take a more considered approach.

On Talking Heads this morning (Fri) Bill, who runs the RAFA Club in Douglas, agreed: (first audio clip)

Meanwhile Public Health Consultant, Dr Paul Emerson, says we should not take too much notice of the figures: (second audio clip)
