Closest ever finish

by isleofman.com 30th August 2006
Craig Atkinson from Yorkshire won this afternoon's Manx Grand Prix Junior event in the closest ever finish in nearly 100 years of racing on the T.T. Course.

He beat Derek Brien by just one-hundredth of a second after the pair diced for over 150 miles.

Commentator Charlie Lambert saw the pair cross the line at the Grandstand.

Barry Davidson finished in third.

Earlier in the day, Roy Richardson won the "A" Class of the Junior Lightweight Classic. Second was Tony Cawte with 65 year old John Goodall completing the podium.

Roy's father Peter then crossed the line to come third in the "B" class behind winner Geoff McMullan and Peter Wakefield.
