DNA could identify body

Police say a post mortem examination on partial human remains found in Port Erin earlier this week could yield vital clues to its identity.

They say the badly decomposed body is that of a man aged between twenty and fifty and it has been in the water for weeks or months.

DNA and other samples have been taken and sent for forensic testing, and other police forces have been contacted about people reported missing.

Inspector Richard Power says he’s still hopeful that despite the poor condition of the body, the man can still be identified:
