Joey Dunlop’s nephew was roundly criticised in an inquest into the death of a Manx Grand Prix rider earlier today.
Michael Dunlop didn’t turn up at the hearing to give evidence, sparking anger from coroner Michael Moyle.
Mr Dunlop had been asked to give evidence at the inquest of Terry Crane who came off his Honda at the 33rd Milestone during last Monday’s MGP practice session.
But he failed to appear at Douglas Courthouse this morning and a coroner’s officer told Mr Moyle although he’d been assured Mr Dunlop would attend, he’d claimed he was too busy preparing his bike for racing and could not be in court.
Mr Moyle said he would have though attending an inquest was more important than preparing for a race and added it showed a lack of respect for the dead man and his family.
He said he’d put it down to immaturity.
Mr Dunlop won the 125 and 400 Newcomers C race on Bank Holiday Monday on his 125 Honda.
