Internet violence legislation

New laws could be introduced next year to outlaw the possession of violent pornography downloaded form the internet.

Home Affairs Minister John Shimmin says his department is monitoring similar legislation being introduced in England and Wales.

He says although the vast majority of Island residents use the internet responsibly, there are a small minority of people who view inappropriate material.

Mr Shimmin says a new bill due to be introduced next year could be modified to include the new offence:
