An elderly woman had a narrow escape from a fire in Peel last night.
The blaze at a property in Christian Street broke out at around 7 o'clock last night (Thurs) in the kitchen of the property.
The fire was well established by the time fire crews arrived at the scene, although the woman had been helped from the property by neighbours.
Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus took around twenty minutes to bring the blaze under control.
The incident was further complicated by the discovery of six butane gas cylinders near the fire at the back of the house.
An investigation into the blaze will take place today.
