MGP double for Atkinson

by isleofman.com 2nd September 2006
Keighley rider Craig Atkinson has completed a double winning Manx Grand Prix.

He took the chequered flag in this afternoon's delayed Senior race, having narrowly won Wednesday's Junior event in the closest race ever staged around the T.T. Mountain Course.

The Martin Bullock team member finished 29.75 seconds ahead of second placed Derek Brien. Douglas man Stephen Oates was third.

Atkinson is the first man to achieve the Senior/Junior double since Richard "Milky" Quayle ten years ago.

He was delighted to have won by a bigger margin than 0.01 seconds:-
Earlier in the day Barry Davidson took the honours in the Lightweight with Alan Oversby taking victory in the Ultra-Lightweight.
