Strong showing from Manx at September Bowls

by isleofman.com 8th September 2006
Three Manx ladies have reached the quarter final stage of the Isle of Man Bowling Festival, and there is a great chance that this prestigious trophy and ?1000 cheque stay on the island.

Despite the stiffest of opposition from the mainland the three ladies all from the same North Ramsey club, and all former winners of the title, have fought their way to the final stages of the competition, where Janet Monk meets her team mate Helen Martin so a Manx lady is certain to reach the semi final.

Lilian Slinger makes up the triumvirate in her quest to land her second title.

In the men’s tournament there are two remaining local bowlers, Ian Kissack who most pundits thought had lost his chance of festival glory with the passing years, but he has turned in his best performances for many years to reach the final days play today. (Friday)

David Bradford a former winner of the ?3,000 prize has not been in the best of form this season, but he is hitting top form at the right time and has improved every day since the festival started on Monday and has a great chance of lifting the trophy.
