"Lobby Government for us" says mayor

by isleofman.com 11th September 2006
The Mayor of Douglas has appealed to businesses to promote Douglas to the Government. Using the annual Corporation Business Buffet as a platform, Councillor Betty Quirk said it was essential the government should not adopt the same values for Douglas as the rest of the Island. She asked all those gathered to " lobby" those in power to make the point. At the same time she described the initiatives being undertaken to help clear up the capital's image, in terms of litter and "detritus" in the streets which, she said, reflected badly on its image in trying to sell it as a business centre.
