An exhibition in Ballasalla village hall has shown plans for the major housing development, proposed for the north side of the village.
It will involve the demolishing of the centre of the Clagh Vane estate and the moving of the majority of the residents to new homes on the Crossag Farm development just to the north.
Also proposed, eventually, is a new school on a site not far from the present school where the Clagh Vane houses now stand. The site would be much larger than the area occupied by the present primary school.
The Crossag Farm development proposals have come after an agreement between Government, who own 29 acres of the site, and developers
J G Kelly, who also own some of the land including that area of the proposed entrance site. The schedule is for completion in 2011.
Also at the exhibition are proposals, in their very earliest stages, for a ring road on the south side of the Douglas road.
