Celtic Match Races results

Scotland were the overall winners at this weekend's Celtic Match Races at Jurby. In the Sidecar event the Scot's collected 62 points, the Isle of Man 55 and Wales 36. They won the Solo section by 50 points with a total of 280 points. The Isle of Man were second with 230 and Wales were way behind with 89. Keith Amor won both races in the 1300 solos championship. On both occasions he was followed over the line by Gav Hunt and Bruce Birnie. Gordon Shand and Stuart Graham were the fastest outfit in race one of the 1300 sidecar championship. The team who finished second in that race, Andrew Williams and James Hibberd, went on to win race two with Shand and Graham failing to finish. Nigel Beattie won both the 600cc races from Gav Hunt. Jimmy Creer won the 250cc race one, and Roger Hurst won the second 250cc contest. In the first Celtic Match Race, Bruce Birnie was the fastest Scotsman around the course with Keith Amor in second. Nigel Beattie was the fastest Manxman with Gav Hunt not far behind, and Steve Ellis took the Welsh win from Dave Saxby. In race two, it was Keith Amor and Bruce Birnie at the top again for the Scots, Nigel Beattie was fastest again for the Manx, but this time it was Paul Dedman who pushed him all the way. Tim Radley won the welsh race, from Dave Madsen Mygdal. Then came the sidecar Celtic Match Race. The Scot's race was won by William and Graeme Davie and they also won the second race. Glyn Jones and Chris Lake were fastest for the Isle of Man in both races, and Andrew Williams and James Hibberd were the quickest Welshmen. Rob Alton won the first Steel Frame 600 solos race, Callum Callister won the Classics and Modern Classics and Barry Galloway won the single twin and triple. In race two of the Steel Frame 600's Phil Kneen came home first, Callister again won the Classics and Galloway claimed another win in the single twin and triple. The first 400cc solos race was won by Dan Kneen with Dave Moffit taking race two. Meanwhile, Tim Venables and Dan Sayle won the 125 classes. Gav Hunt took both wins in the Clubman and Novice class.
