Air baggage restrictions eased

by isleofman.com 21st September 2006
Manx travellers will be able to take larger hand luggage aboard aircraft from Friday, first thing ( 0200).

Passengers will still only be allowed one piece of luggage but the maximum size permitted will increase to the that of a small roller-suitcase. The new size limit for carry on luggage will increase from a lap top computer sized bag to 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22in x 17in x 9in approx).

The current security measures still ban all liquids except medication essential for the flight and baby milk and liquid baby food, which must be tasted by the passenger.

The changes come after the UK government's transport security division held talks with the aviation industry on Monday.

Thousands of flights were cancelled at Heathrow and BAA's other UK airports after the alleged plot was foiled on 10 August.
Ronaldsway is classified as a UK airport.
