Royal hold Peel

by isleofman.com 23rd September 2006
Douglas Royal produced a superb performance to prevent Peel from moving to the top of the Manx First Division on Saturday.

They held the westerners to a 2-2 draw at Douglas Road, courtesy of goals from Craig Taylor and the in-form John Baker.

Tony Duggan and Neil Shimmin were the marksmen for Peel who twice fought back from behind to earn a share of the spoils.

Gymns edged out Ramsey 2-1 at Tromode.

The home side led through an own goal. Rob Campbell equalised for Ramsey before Ciaran McNulty scored the winner.

Ayre United ended a run of three straight defeats by thrashing St John's 5-0 at Andreas – a demolition complete inside the opening 26 minutes!

Darren Jones, Niall Cummins (two), Steve Parrish and Mark Hignett were the heroes for the home side.

The newly promoted clubs Union Mills and Braddan shared six goals at Garey Mooar but Mills grabbed a late equaliser to prevent Braddan from coming away with maximum points.

David Thommenny (two) and Carl Dobbin were on target for the Millers with Rob Shaw, Will Smith and Chris Jones finding the net for Braddan.
