The boss of a holiday company has been cleared at appeal of laundering money through the Isle of Man in Scotland’s first ever money-laundering case.
Ian Cowper was jailed for five years after being found guilty of stealing ?2.4 million from Thomson Holidays.
But the Court of Appeal said the original trial judge had misdirected the jury and ordered his conviction be overturned.
Cowper had been accused of diverting cash intended for hotels in Ibiza (pictured) into bank accounts here in the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and Switzerland.
In its ruling, the Court of Appeal said the misdirection had led to a miscarriage of justice.
