A team of 16 special olympians left the Island this morning (Thursday) ahead of the Special Olympics Youth Games in Rome, which starts on Saturday.
This is the first time an event will be focused solely on young people between the ages of 12 and 21. The Youth Games will involve 1,400 athletes from all 57 competing nations.
David Hudson, Lindsey Fox, Kate Dulson and Michelle Cameron will represent the Isle of Man in Aquatics, and have travelled with their coaches Becky Macauly and Andy Rammage.
John Stevens, Gareth Cowin, Chris Seed and Katie Saunders will compete in the athletics competition, coached by Graham Davies.
Jason Fox and Oliver Riddell will be involved in the sport of Bocce, and they are being supported by coach Janet Norbury.
Sean Roberts, David Dinham, Amy Kaighin and Emily Davies will be in the bowling competition, coached by Barry Dulson.
Paul Clucas and Rebecca Mellor will compete in Gymnastics, and they are being coached by Julie Anderson.
Beryl Wooldridge is the Head of Delegation and her assistant is Michael Curran.
The Youth Games concludes on October the 5th.
