Anglo leasing leads not followed

by isleofman.com 2nd October 2006
A sacked Kenyan Anti-Corruption Commission investigator says he was stopped from following leads to the Isle of Man by his government.

Mr Hussein Were was investigating a company called Anglo Leasing since early 2004.

But he says he was sacked because he dug too deep looking for Anglo Leasing evidence – a trail which led him to the Isle of Man as well as several other jurisdictions.

He says instead of visiting the Island, other commissioners insisted on going ahead with prosecutions, many of which collapsed.

Anglo Leasing was brought in to replace the Kenyan passport printing system, but subcontracted the work to a French company – making millions of pounds which were alleged to have been pocketed by members of the Kenyan government.
