Manx lose last match in Spain

by isleofman.com 4th October 2006
After winning their first three matches of their Spanish tour, the Isle of Man went down to defeat in their final game against the Costa Blanca.

The Island batted first in oppressive heat and ran up an impressive 213 for 6. Christian Steriopulos cracked 52, Pete Richards 36, Jon Norrington 32 and Gareth Morris 30.

The Costa Blanca side were more used to the conditions, with the temperature over the 35 degrees mark.

Opener Shafique Ali was in dazzling form and smashed 104 not out - his innings included seven sixes. Scott Pearce and Gareth Roome both took a wicket each as the Manx suffered an eight wicket loss.

The tour has been a success with the players gaining more experience of playing in European conditions.
