Title contenders go head-to-head

by isleofman.com 13th October 2006
Two matches catch the eye in Saturday's Manx Football fixture list.

At Glen Road, Division One Champions Laxey play unbeaten Peel. The sides drew 1-1 in the corresponding game last season.

Laxey have twice tasted defeat this term, but are still only three points behind leaders St. George's in fourth.

The westerners are second and the only side in the top flight not to have lost a match. The Peel defence is the tightest in the league, but will be tested by the highest scorers in Division One.

Old Boys and Corinthians meet at Noble's Park in Division Two. Both teams boast 100% records.

Most pundits predicted these two would be promoted, before a ball was kicked this season.
Old Boys lead the way with 10 wins, one more than their rivals. However, Corinthians have the meanest defence and most prolific attack.
