Ramsey set down a marker in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield with a 22-8 win over close rivals Vagabonds B.
The game was dominated by a strong wind blowing down the length of the pitch and Ramsey made best use of it when it was in their favour.
First half tries from ex-Vagabond Aneurin Prichard (two) and Simon Mason, plus a penalty and two conversions from lively scrum half Sean Wylie, gave the northerners a 22-0 half time lead.
Vagas came back in the second half and a Danny Williams penalty, plus a try from second row Bryn Griffiths, gave them a glimmer of hope.
Ramsey put the shutters up in the last 20 minutes though and eased their way to a two point lead at the top of the Shield table.
At Nobles Park, Vagas C made their Shield debut this season in another game of two halves.
Scott Harding put the Spaniards in front with a neatly taken try, which was converted by Chris Hardisty, and they kept their lead until half time.
Vagas returned this with interest in the second half to run out 20-7 winners.
Douglas B also showed some glimmers of promise as they beat Western Vikings 42-14 at QEII School, Peel.
John Ledwidge led the way for Douglas with a hat-trick of tries and there were also scores from Chris Newberry, Lloyd Jones, Phil Garrett, Martin Higgins and Adam Gaggs, with a single conversion from promising youngster Chris Brew.
Vikings points all came from George Gadsby who picked up two tries and two conversions.
In the final game of the afternoon, Southern Nomads finally got off the mark with a thumping 83-3 win over near neighbours Castletown.
The stars for Nomads were Damian Brand and Kevin Quantrill who both notched hat tricks.
