Floating hotel plans are sunk

by isleofman.com 16th October 2006
Attempts to charter a " floating hotel" for TT 2007 have fallen through.

The Steam Packet had planned to use the cruise ship "MS Nordnorge" to cope with the expected flood of fans.

Whatever you look at this, its a considerable blow. It has been recognised that the Island will be struggling to provide the bedspaces, be it in hotels, private homes or under canvas, for the centenary TT Festival.
When the Packet announced their original plans, it was seen as a recognised way of easing the demand.
Packet MD Hamish Ross has described the news as " a real disappointment", not just to the his firm, after a long an arduous search, but to those who had pre booked.
Apparently "at the last minute", and you can sense the Packet's frustration, the owners of the Nordnorge have decided to use the ship for "normal operations".
But, says Mr Ross, the Packet will continue to seek a replacement vessel.
He adds "It will be very difficult".
