Old Boys and Michael still unbeaten

by isleofman.com 21st October 2006
Old Boys 100 per cent record was finally ended by Michael United on Saturday.

After 11 straight wins, the CFS Division Two leaders were held to a 0-0 draw by their fellow title contenders.

After the meeting of the only unbeaten sides in the division, Old Boys remain top and Michael stay third.

Corinthians bounced back from their drubbing at the hands of the leaders last week to move within four points of the top.

But their 3-2 victory over a battling Police side was marred by an injury to the home side’s Carl Breadner.

Breadner and Billy Masigna were the Police’s scorers but Breadner broke his leg late in the match.

Both clubs wish him a speedy recovery.

Corinthians returned home with all three points thanks to goals from Steve Glover (two) and Darren Cain.

Malew produced an excellent result to defeat fourth placed Pulrose 4-1 at Clagh Vane.

Adam Drewitt, Jack Charmer, John Kelly and Lee Taylor were the southside heroes with Dave Skillen notching the Pulrose consolation.

Colby consolidated fifth spot with a 4-1 home win against Onchan – Steven Leece, Josh Kelly (two) and Basil Kelly the marksmen.

Mike Quine grabbed the Onchan goal and both sides finished the match with 10 men.

Castletown’s miserable season continued as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Ramsey Youth Centre in a memorable win for the northerners.

Meanwhile, Douglas and District are off the bottom at the expense of Jurby after they defeated their opponents 5-3 at Groves Road.
