Kaneen wins Walking League 1st rd

Peter Kaneen won the first round of this year's Friends Provident International Winter Walking League.

He completed the 10k race at the NSC in Douglas in a time of 47.12m.

Jock Waddington was second, crossing the line around ten minutes later.

He was followed by Doug Allen, Eammon Harkin, Mark Harvey, Bob Corrin (who was one lap short), Lisa Motley, Vinny Lynch, Andrew Titley and Mike Readshaw.

Lauren Whelan won the 5k event in 29.02m. Andy Boardman was second and Enid Watson third.

Karen Renecle won the 3k walk in 20.03m, from Richard Bell and Hilda George.

Sinead Kaneen was the fastest over 2k in 12.23m, with Alexandra Ross second.

It was a Norris one-two over 1k, with Alex just beating Katie by six seconds. Adam Cowin was third.
