by isleofman.com 4th November 2006
St George’s extended their lead at the top of OSA Division One after winning Saturday’s Match of the Day with a 3-1 home win over reigning champions Laxey.

The Geordies, who were defeated by the Miners on six separate occasions last season, came from behind to run out winners with goals from Callum Morrisey (two) and Martin Torr.

Neil Brogan had opened the scoring for Laxey.

Fellow title contenders Peel returned home with maximum points but were pushed hard by battling Ramsey before a Chris Cain double secured a 2-0 win.

Rushen maintained their outside Railway Cup hopes with a 4-0 home win over lowly Braddan, courtesy of goals from Paul Jones, Edward Pepper, Andrew Moody and Adam Cregeen.

Kieron Iveagh (two) and David Reece ensured Gymns consolidated their mid-table position with a 3-1 home success over Union Mills, with David Thommeny netting the Millers consolation.
