Reigning champions Southern Nomads turned on the style to dispose comfortably of Douglas B 39-5 at a wet and windy King Williams College on Saturday.
With the strong wind at their backs, Nomads blasted into a 34-0 half time lead, courtesy of tries from Phil Campbell, Jimmy Cubbon, Andy Butler, Martin Jones and Kenny Tasia.
Cubbon rounded off a fine personal first half performance with a penalty and three conversions.
Douglas, perhaps, had a moral victory in the second half. Andy Butler crossed for his second to extend the lead to 39-0 but John Ledwidge’s interception try gave Douglas a little respectability as they scrapped to the bitter end.
In the only other game to be played in the Shimmin Wilson Shield, Ramsey eased past Northern Spaniards 39-0 at the Mooragh Park but Vagabonds B also picked up the points as their C team conceded the match due to take place at Glencrutchery Road.
The remaining scheduled fixture between Western Vikings and Castletown was postponed.
