McGuinness to be given Freedom of Lancaster

Eleven time T.T. winner John McGuinness is to be granted the Freedom of the City of Lancaster.

City councillors have decided to hand out their highest award, following a campaign by the Lancaster and Morecambe Citizen newspaper.

The decision will be ratified at a special council meeting in February. This will be followed by a celebratory reception in front of his fans.

The Citizen Newspaper's Sports Editor, Matt Donlan, says politicians are expecting a big demand from people wanting to witness the ceremony:-
