Skillicorn wins Peel Hill Race

Simon Skillicorn (pictured) won Saturday’s Peel Hill Race.

He finished 27 seconds ahead of Ian Gale with Tony Okell only a further seven seconds behind in third place.

Rose Hooten was the leading lady, ahead of Bridget Kaneen and Christine Barwell.

In the Isle of Man Junior Fell Running Championship, Ryan Fairclough of Ramsey Grammar School took the under 18 boys title, with Lewis Morris securing the under 16 boys and Tom Kelly the victor in the under 14s.

In the under 18 girls, Ciara Kaneen pipped fellow QEII student Steph Lace; Rachel Franklin was the under 16 girls winner with Hannah Scarlett on top in the under 14s.

The overall titles went to Fairclough and the talented Franklin, while QEII took the team prize.

Results: (Men’s) 1, Simon Skillicorn (19 minutes, 29 seconds); 2, Ian Gale; 3, Tony Okell.
(Women’s) 1, Rose Hooten (26m, 15s); 2, Bridget Kaneen; 3, Christine Barwell.

Under 18 girls: 1, Ciara Kaneen (QEII); 2, Steph Lace (QEII).
Under 16 girls: 1, Rachel Franklin (St Ninian’s); 2, Bronwen Kaneen (QEII); 3, Polly Rodgerson (QEII).
Under 14 girls: 1, Hannah Scarlett (QEII); 2, Rachel Johnstone (CRHS): 3, Maxine Smalley (QEII).
