A decidedly lacklustre Vagabonds lost 24-22 at home to Dukinfield in EuroManx South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One.
Vagas took an early lead with tries from Rob Martin and Midge van Vuuren and a conversion from Johnny Beckley which secured a 12-3 advantage inside 20 minutes.
Dukinfield hit back, however, and Vagas found themselves 15-17 down at the break.
Dukinfield consolidated their lead in the second half before Vagas finally fought back.
A penalty from Beckley reduced the deficit to 24-15 and, in the closing stages of the game, Rhiann Nels’ try and Beckley’s conversion brought them back to within striking distance but it was just too little too late.
