Vagabonds and Douglas both recorded good wins in their respective divisions of the English National Leagues.
In EuroManx South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One, Vagas picked up only their second away win of the season in a bruising encounter at Hoylake.
Jarrad Moorly, Bryan Kennaugh and Fanie Scheurkogel all picked up tries for Vagas, with stand-off Jonny Beckley adding three penalties to make the game safe with the final score 24-15 to Vagas.
In Division Three, Douglas recorded an impressive victory over joint leaders Prenton at Port-e-Chee to stake their claim at the top of the table.
An early Lee Illott penalty put Douglas in front but Prenton hit back with a Joey Fisher try and Gareth Knapman penalty to go ahead 7-3.
Illott was on target again for Douglas though and by the end of the first half he had kicked them into a 9-7 lead.
Prenton forged ahead at the start of the second half with a Sean Ingram try after a rare Douglas error.
From then, it was more or less one-way traffic as Douglas controlled the game.
Veteran Dave Woods put them in front with a try in the 50th minute and he was closely followed with tries from Janno van Zyl (two) and Nick Horsthuis as Douglas closed the game out in style 29-12.
